Certified Master Inspector (CMI)

Zac Knoblauch, owner and inspector with Rigid Inspections, is a Certified Master Inspector (CMI). Certified Master Inspector is the the inspection industry’s top professional designation. It is awarded to qualifying inspectors who have demonstrated the highest level of competency in the inspection industry. What does this mean for you? It means you are hiring one of the best and highest level of inspector you can find.

Here are some of the statistics and qualifications of a Certified Master Inspector:

  • All CMIs have been in the inspection business for at least three years prior to becoming Board-Certified.
  • All CMIs have agreed to submit to periodic criminal background checks.
  • All CMIs have completed professional education prior to being approved. In my case, I have completed and passed a 200 question inspector exam for the State of Illinois for my Illinois license. I have completed and passed a 120 question inspector exam through InterNACHI. I have completed and passed the AHIT (American Home Inspector Training Institute) home inspector exam and 60 hours of education. I have completed, on an annual basis, the required 24 hours of continuing education courses to maintain my InterNACHI membership. I completed the 12 required courses and then some (a total of 119 hours of education) within 1 year to maintain the CPI designation with InterNACHI.
  • All CMIs have completed at least 1,000 fee-paid inspections and/or hours of training and education combined.
  • All CMIs abide by the inspection industry’s toughest Code of Ethics.

At the time of writing this there are only 4 Certified Master Inspectors in the St. Louis Metro East area, myself being one of them. If you decide not to use me as your inspector I urge you to do your research on your other inspector options and go with a CMI if you can. Click here to verify my CMI designation.
